FAQ-1003. How do I update my ootpik application?

If you are experiencing strange behavior that no other question on this site can answer, you may need to repair your datafile:

• Back up your ootpik folder! (right click and select "Compress ootpik"

• Go to the computer that runs the Server application and open the Client application as Administrator
• Go into Preferences
• At the VERY TOP of the screen click on the File menu and select Save Lists

• Choose a name like "Lists-TODAYS-DATE" and save the file to your computer

• Close ootpik Client and Server
• In the Finder, place your Server application in the Trash. Place the new application where the old one was.

• Open the new application as Administrator
• The application will ask you to Open your datafile. This file ends with ".4DD" and is in your ootpik application folder under Data

• Go to Preferences - File Menu - Load Lists and select the Lists file you created earlier

• Test the application. For multi-user installations, the client application on each computer will need to opened and you will be prompted to update.
